Pup Cleanup began one day while I was removing dog waste from my yard.  I realized that although I love dogs, cleaning up and disposing of dog poop is a job that most people would like to do without.

At that moment, I decided to help rid the world of poop, one dog or one yard at a time.  Pup Cleanup was founded to help dog owners in greater Boston enjoy more quality time with their pets by eliminating the chore of pooper scooping. Located in eastern Massachusetts, Pup Cleanup has a service area that extends from Canton to Newton to Brookline, including Needham, Wellesley, Dedham, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury, Roslindale, Westwood and Norwood.  

How We Started

Once upon a time, my life was dog free. As a self-proclaimed and committed neat-freak, I was leery of the mess that pups and their poop would create. “How will I find doggy daycare in Boston when I want to take a vacation?”, I wondered. I had numerous reasons (or so I thought) to resist sharing my life with one of ‘Man’s Best Friends’. And then . . . Bailey.

Bailey made a believer out of me. He would sit on my lap while I read the morning paper, and he actually fell back asleep on most days!  My new found furry friend was so happy to see me when I returned home that he would charge up and down the stairs like a little madman. He would sit with me and would offer me unconditional love because that was all he knew how to do. And so, my pre-owner fears faded. The second dog, Yorke, was my idea; a once unthinkable thought but now simply a natural evolution.

Of course, we have no way to absolutely know, but we suspect that both ‘boys’ were abused as puppies. It saddens me greatly, now that I’ve opened my heart and my life to dogs, to think that people can be so cruel. My foremost desire, since we rescued our four-legged friends from the animal shelter, is to make sure that they are never hurt or afraid again. I now understand the bond between dogs & their owners and have begun looking for ways to be a bigger part of ‘the world of dogs’.
